Plastering
Plastering consists usually of 2 'sets' or coats, applied in quick succession during the same session. The 2nd coat is smoothed as it hardens, to give a smooth finish akin to eggshell. The time taken to dry varies according to the underlying surface, but will usually take a number of days. During the drying process the wall will appear darker in the areas that still retain some moisture. Once dry and pale, it's ready for decorating!
Pebble dashing
Is applied in two phases. Initially a render base coat is applied, after which a 2nd coat is applied. While the 2nd coat is still wet the pea-shingle is embedded within it. It protects the underlying brickwork from weathering, and can be useful to cover existing cracks and imperfections
